![]() Though there are some differences worth noting, the first Charlotte Tilbury's Filter has a larger shade range and the second is of course the price point. The Flawless filter is perhaps slightly shinier, but overall the effect is the same and the formulas both feature yummy skincare ingredients like squalene and glycerin and give the skin a radiant but subtle look. The results are a dreamy finish with no discernable differences. To really push each product to its glowy limits, I applied them as both primers and highlighters, on one side of my face. Need evidence? In this picture, I am wearing e.l.f's glowy offering on the right and Charlotte Tilbury's on the left. ![]() Therefore I do not say the following lightly and while it hurts my soul slightly-I must tell my fellow budgeting beauty lovers that I could barely tell the difference between them. I feel the need to state that I am a die-hard fan of Charlotte Tilbury, I shamelessly buy every viral product of hers when my bank balance allows and have used the Flawless Filter religiously since it first came out. e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid Filter VS Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter The only slight hang-up I have with this product is that it's slightly orangey, despite me using the fairest, coolest shade-but once it's blended out and paired with a foundation this is no longer an issue. It's so subtle but radiant-ideal if you're not a fan of glitters or really pigmented highlighters. ![]() Even when I add powder there is no cakiness and the glow still shines through.Īs e.l.f claims, it can also be used to highlight, I also applied it on my cheekbones and nose with the help of a beauty blender and honestly it looks *chefs kiss*. Instead, I'm left with a dewy, healthy-looking base that looks like my skin but way better. It blends beautifully (though it does take longer to perfect as the shade I used had a more orangey tinge) but my foundation did melt into it and crucially, I don't get foundation piling. I loved the fact that the doe-foot was larger than others I've tried-it was easier to apply and didn't require me to go back to the bottle for a second helping. I applied it like a primer for my foundation, dotting it onto my cheekbones, nose bridge, forehead and chin. My goal is a glow for the gods which I can definitely say I achieved with the e.l.f Halo Glow. Personally, I love a dewy, natural makeup look-my makeup routine consists of a glow filter, foundation, concealer on my under eyes, powder, blush, blush and more blush-finished off with a liquid highlighter, mascara and some brow gel. So far it’s already a winner in the Beautyverse-especially since it’s under $15, unlike some of its competitors…but how does it really compare? My verdict on the e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid Filter It's also jam-packed with some of our favorite ingredients, from hyaluronic acid to squalane and has exclusively five-star reviews.īut is this hit glow booster really worth the hype and more so, is it worth retiring your luxury products for? Here's my honest verdict, plus a rundown on its formula and how to apply it. To define this product, think of a concealer that while making your skin look flawless, also nourishes and hydrates your skin-giving you a fresh, natural glow. Yes, I'm talking about the e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid filter, which you'll no doubt have seen all over your social feeds. Perhaps the first of its kind to really burst on the scene was Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless Filter, which triples as a foundation, highlighter and primer-but now a new glow giver has entered the chat-and TikTok reckons it's the ultimate swap. Right now, the trendy look is dewy, Hailey Bieber-Esque glazed foundation looks and to achieve this look, liquid highlighters and glow-enhancers have become a must-have. As a lover of dewy, natural-looking makeup and the entire ' clean girl’ aesthetic for that matter, I just had to try out TikTok's viral e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid Filter and it's truly changed my makeup game and saved me a small fortune in the process.

![]() But tech companies like Apple and Google are big for a reason: control comes with a cost. There’s been a lot of talk lately about “sovereignty” with regard to software-specifically, ownership and control of your data, free of big tech’s cloud. So if you’re fed up with proprietary, cloud-based password managers, read on! But understand that going your own way, while empowering, isn’t as easy or necessarily as secure. I’ll write about that experience soon, but for now, I mention it only because that’s where I’m now storing my passwords. I recently purchased a Synology NAS and several hard drives to store more of my data locally. Recent iCloud outages have made me much leerier of relying on the cloud. I also wanted more local control over my data. It’s less about being unhappy with 1Password’s direction than preferring my data in open formats, and AgileBits’ recent changes have made me decide that the tradeoff between convenience and openness was no longer worth it. But I decided some time ago to switch from 1Password back to the KeePass ecosystem. I still think 1Password is a great product, and you are far better off with any password manager than none at all. Even my non-technical wife, commented on how 1Password wasn’t as smooth as it used to be. Overall, both the desktop and mobile apps have gotten clunkier and slower. That’s just one small example of AgileBits changing something on the Mac to promote cross-platform compatibility. For example, the 1Password browser extension used the Command-\ shortcut to autofill passwords-but the shortcut recently changed to Command-Shift-X to be consistent across all platforms. I have successfully used for a few years now (the company gave me a free subscription) but prefer to have my password database under my direct control.Īlong with my philosophical dislike of having my essential data locked into a single provider, I’ve also been running into more annoyances with 1Password. Instead, you have to use, which makes some people uncomfortable. The other notable change is that 1Password 8 will no longer let you store your password database locally. Electron is widely criticized, and deservedly so, but many apps might not have been ported to the Mac without it. In essence, Electron packages a Web app so that it acts like a native Mac app, which is great for cross-platform compatibility but seldom results in an app that feels like it was designed for the Mac. The upcoming 1Password 8, currently in early access, shifts the password manager to the cross-platform Electron development framework. ![]() Unfortunately, 1Password developer AgileBits seems to be moving away from its Apple-centric roots. I was a little uncomfortable with 1Password’s proprietary database format and later with how AgileBits pushed 1Password users to store passwords on, but I felt the tradeoff for less friction was worthwhile. With KeePass, I always felt like I had complete control of my password database. The original KeePass has always been Windows-only, but there are multiple KeePass-compatible apps for all platforms, and you’re free to pick whichever one is right for you. However, I always somewhat regretted switching away from KeePass, which stores its encrypted database in a standardized, open format. (For evidence of my longtime 1Password loyalty, see “ 1Password 7 for Mac Offers a Fresh Look… for an Upgrade Price,” 18 June 2018.) KeePass was always rough around the edges, while 1Password was neatly integrated with the Mac and iPhone. ![]() It was made just for the Mac and looked the part. When I moved back to the Apple world in the late 2000s, I was drawn in by the shininess of 1Password. I’ve been using password managers for a long time, starting with the open-source KeePass in Windows nearly 20 years ago. 1675: Apple “Wonderlust” event, OS security updates, Apple CSAM pullback, Mozilla car privacy report, iPhone weather apps, bike tour iPhone photos, do you use the iPhone 14 Pro Always-On display?.1676: OS dates, iPhone 15 lineup, Apple Watch Series 9 & Ultra 2, USB-C AirPods Pro, USB-C cable advice, more from Wonderlust.1677: iOS 17.0.2 for iPhone 15, OS security updates, new AirPods features, restore Slack sidebar, Orion HDMI display app, Apple carbon neutrality reactions.1678: macOS 14 Sonoma available, two portable laptop stands, iPhone Always-On display poll results, which Web browsers do you use?.#1679: iOS 17’s Check In, iOS 17.03 addresses overheating, Mac browser popularity, Arc adds AI features, do you use Finder tags?. ![]() #TobyFox wrote this track for the adorable town you encounter early on in #Undertale! The organizers hired New York's "Master Builder" Robert Moses, to head the corporation established to run the fair because he was experienced in raising money for vast public projects. Organizers turned to private financing and the sale of bonds to pay the huge costs to stage the event. Prince James (the Duke of York) then renamed the former Dutch colony New Amsterdam as New York. The year 1964 was nominally selected for the event to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the naming of New York, after King Charles II sent an English fleet to seize it from the Dutch in 1664. He was joined by Austrian architect Victor Gruen (creator of the shopping mall) in studies that eventually led the Eisenhower Commission to award the world's fair to New York City in competition with a number of American cities. Wagner, Jr., commissioned Frederick Pittera, a producer of international fairs and exhibitions, and author of the history of International Fairs & Exhibitions for the Encyclopædia Britannica and Compton's Encyclopedia, to prepare the first feasibility studies for the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair. ![]() Thoughts of an economic boon to the city as the result of increased tourism was a major reason for holding another fair 25 years after the 1939–1940 extravaganza. ![]() The 1964–1965 Fair was conceived by a group of New York businessmen who remembered their childhood experiences at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Preceding these fairs was the 1853–1854 Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations, located in the New York Crystal Palace at what is now Bryant Park in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Flushing had been a Dutch settlement, named after the city of Vlissingen (anglicized into "Flushing"). The selected site, Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in the borough of Queens, was originally a natural wetland straddling the Flushing River. Corporations demonstrated the use of mainframe computers, computer terminals with keyboards and CRT displays, teletype machines, punch cards, and telephone modems in an era when computer equipment was kept in back offices away from the public, decades before the Internet and home computers were at everyone's disposal. This fair gave many attendees their first interaction with computer equipment. American manufacturers of pens, chemicals, computers, and automobiles had a major presence. In many ways the fair symbolized a grand consumer show, covering many products then-produced in America for transportation, living, and consumer electronic needs in a way that would never be repeated at future world's fairs in North America. It remains a touchstone for many American Baby Boomers who visited the optimistic exposition as children, before the turbulent years of the Vietnam War and many to be forthcoming cultural changes. ![]() More than 51 million people attended the fair, though fewer than the hoped-for 70 million. The nascent Space Age, with its vista of promise, was well represented. The fair is noted as a showcase of mid-twentieth-century American culture and technology. In both years, children (2–12) admission cost $1.00 (equivalent to $9.44 in 2022 after calculating for inflation). Admission in 1965 increased to $2.50 (equivalent to $23.22 in 2022 after calculating for inflation). Admission price for adults (13 and older) was $2.00 in 1964 (equivalent to $18.87 in 2022 after calculating for inflation). The fair ran for two six-month seasons, April 22 – October 18, 1964, and April 21 – October 17, 1965. The theme was symbolized by a 12-story-high, stainless-steel model of the Earth called the Unisphere, built on the foundation of the Perisphere from the 1939 World's Fair. American companies dominated the exposition as exhibitors. Hailing itself as a "universal and international" exposition, the fair's theme was "Peace Through Understanding", dedicated to "Man's Achievement on a Shrinking Globe in an Expanding Universe". However, the fair did not receive official support or approval from the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE).
